We believe that the project will train students in the
appreciation of our cultural and artistic heritage, and in the long run, it will encourage
a new idea of tourism seen not only as an opportunity of reacreational activities but also
as 'otium' for moments of reflection and of cultural delight. Infact a new sensitivity to
cultural tourism is one of the main targets of the project.
Another important aspect is the exchange of experiements and methods among schools with
different cultural background - situated in different geographical areas.
The images of our unique art work, of our landscape, of our artistic and environmental
heritage cannot be entrusted to a text book
Nowadays learning process as well as information make use of the new communication
techniques such as video-clips, digital elaboration, special effects of virtual reality
which cause an high-speed development of knowledge.Researches cannot but take advantage
from the use of the new techniques since the experts' results can be communicated
immediately.
Anyway Imaging Education has to face the problem of the precariousness of the images and
of the instruments used which have to be changed and updated.
We have also to consider the ever-changing architecture of the modern software and the
necessity to be linguistically and technically skilled in the use of hardware, even if
this latter can be considered an opportunity more than a problem.
Nowadays the iconic-message is essential in any communication and all languages are trying
to use images.
Nevertheless the imaging language is ambiguous in the sense that you cannot interpret it
univocally.
It offers more than one visual meaning, since it provides visions on differnt dimensions
and refuses the unidimension and the temporal succession which is typical of the verbal
language. In order to be understood its polisemia has to be reduced through the use of a
scripto, as a consequence the iconic language is to be read through the un-iconic
language.
As somebody pointed out, our civilization is still based on writing notwithstanding the
invasion of images.
The importance of the image is increasing since it can convey a larger quantity of
information in a sincronic way quickly and effectively.
Images and words coexist and cooperate in the modern forms of comminication. Lamberto
Pignotti called 'neo- ideogrammi'(new-ideograms) these communicative forms based on icons.
They are un-narrative, fragmentary and composed of quick information -impulses.
So the icon is not narrative, it does not represent a point of view, it does not explain,
it does not make comments. It is a common image which goes straight to the community and
acts in it.
