Texas bandTexas was formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1986 by Johnny McElhone, a veteran of the Scottish rock circuit who had been a part of two groups, Hipsway and Altered Images. Altered Images had considerable chart success in the U.S. and the U.K. in the mid-1980s, while Hipsway didn't become nearly so well known.

The group made their performing debut as a band in March, 1988 at a local college in Glasgow.

Italy, certainly, is not among these: where very little is known of the band. The first single extracted from 'White on Blonde', called 'Say what you want' is probably a song that people recognize but not everybody realizes who the single is sung by.Sharleen Spiteri

Texas always appear very differently compared to their previous album, both in appearance and in sound. It happened in the passage from 'Ricks Road' to 'White On Blonde', and the story was repeated with the last 'The Hush'.

The name Texas seems to be inspired from a movie by the German director Wim Wenders: "Paris, Texas" of 1984.
