Una piccola premessa: questa
lista di classici della fantascienza in lingua inglese non pretende di avere
una sua oggettività, ma riflette i gusti e le letture del sottoscritto. Non è
detto che per altri conoscitori, studiosi e appassionati siano questi i migliori romanzi e racconti di
fantascienza che tutti dovrebbero leggere prima di dire se la fantascienza sia
o no qualcosa di serio. Però, anche se le scelte sui titoli possono essere
opinabili, sicuramente questi sono gli scrittori più importanti di lingua
inglese.
Per chi non legge l’inglese:
quasi tutti questi romanzi sono stati tradotti in italiano. Il problema è che
spesso sono stati pubblicati da diversi editori (o addirittura dallo stesso
editore…) con titoli diversi nel corso del tempo. Se volete sapere come si
chiamano in italiano (anche per acquistarne una copia), potete trovare i titoli
nell’eccellente catalogo della
fantascienza di Ernesto Vegetti, che riporta tutte le edizioni in ordine
cronologico, e altre informazioni utili.
