the town

Bisacquino is a little town situated in Western Sicily, between Palermo and Sciacca. It is linked to those cities by two main roads, respectively SS188 and SS189. It is located at 700m above sea level and develops at the foot of Mt. Triona, abundant in the scents of its Mediterranean flora.

Just at its entrance, the town appeals to the visitor with the ancient charm of its stone houses and with the Arab atmosphere of its little narrow roads, often surmounted by arches ending in small courtyards. They wind tortuously and are made more picturesque by peeping glimpses of a countryside landscape. While walking along them the visitor feels carried into an old-time setting and an evocative atmosphere.

Bisacquino, in fact, is one of the few places where, inside the town walls, people still can suddenly enjoy scenes savouring something bucolic or imagine old-time rural life pictures while standing near the several watering troughs which are scattered throughout the town. In the spring time, moreover, they can enjoy frolicking in the grass of the blooming fields just outside the town, charmed by the colourful countryside.
