Castellano tower

castellano.jpg (18908 byte) This solid quadrilateral construction rises in dominant position on the valley of the river Arno around twenty kilometers south from Florence, gifted of a mighty angular tower (lowered in last century) and of a mighty central keep. The whole low part of the construction is provided of bastioned walls and on top still remains part of the battlements . Numerous openings, fruit of the conversion into manor house first and farm then, breaks the thick wall curtains. Recently restored, the small fortress entertains an  agrituristic estate and it is not visitable. Is well visible driving the highway A1 from Florence to Rome.
