January 27, 2005: Giannegidio Silva, Metropolitana di Napoli Chairman, announces opening by 2008 of the three stations Toledo, Municipio and Universita' of Linea 1 (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

March 6, 2005: new station Traiano (Linea 5) starts service (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino, and official note - in Italian - by SEPSA).

March 23, 2005: tunnel connecting station Museo (Linea 1) and National Archaeological Museum has been opened to service. On same day restyling at station Vanvitelli (Linea 1) has been made available to passengers. This latter comprises, among other improvements, many modern-art workpieces collected and exhibited under the supervision of Achille Bonito Oliva.

April 13, 2005: a 108-metres-long pedestrian tunnel will connect station Amedeo of Linea 2 to lower station of Funicolare di Chiaia. Scheduled time one year, cost 1.200.000 euros (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

April 20, 2005: Linea6 trains have been taken out of Fuorigrotta subsoil. They will be painted again before entering service in spring 2006 (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

May 22, 2005: a second exit for station Toledo (Linea 1) has been announced. It will be located at Trinità degli Spagnoli, thus serving Quartieri Spagnoli ("Spanish district") (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

June 1, 2005: European Court of Luxembourg rejects Comune di Napoli appeal concerning european funds for Linea 1 (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

June 2, 2005: works for station Mostra (Linea6) allow to discover Bronze Age evidences in Naples (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

July 7, 2005: new station La Trencia (Linea5) enters service, in next months also station Pianura will be available (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

July 13, 2005: Linea6 work schedule announced: section Mostra - Mergellina will be completed by mid-2006 (cost: 226 million euros), in 2009 Municipio station will be reached, by 2011 intermediate stations will be completed (total cost 674 million euros) (see news #1 and news #2 - in Italian - - from Il Mattino).

July 17, 2005: section from Piscinola - Scampia to Mugnano of Metrocampania Nord-Est (formerly Alifana) has entered service. Announced by end 2007 service extension to Aversa. This line under construction is already integrated with Linea 1. Furthermore, announced by end 2008 start of service for section Piscinola - Scampia - Garibaldi, which will allow to close Linea 1 loop. Finally, announced by 2009 linking at Piscinola - Scampia so that Metrocampania Nord-Est trains will be able to directly use Linea 1 tracks (see news #1 and news #2 - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

August 1, 2005: Linea6 tunnel from Piazzale Tecchio (station Mostra) to Piazza Sannazaro (station Mergellina) has been completed. On this issue and, more in general, on the line read the reportage - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

August 21, 2005: interchange parking lots at stations Bartolo Longo and Madonnelle (Linea 3) have been approved (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

September 27, 2005: discussion about the best way to build station Duomo (Linea 1) so as to avoid delays in line completion and to save the idea of station-museum; rumours suggest 2011 as opening date for the station (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

September 30, 2005: works to create a new exit (within Cardarelli Hospital) at station Policlinico (Linea 1) will start in October: six months have been scheduled for completion (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

October 19, 2005: rumours say that Linea6 might start service in June 2006 (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

October 29, 2005: Trenitalia exits Metronapoli. As a consequence, the former will manage Linea 2, while the latter will manage Linea 1 and the four cable-car lines (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

November 6, 2005: opening of station Monte Sant'Angelo (Linea 7) designed by Anish Kapoor is expected to take place in 2008 (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

November 12, 2005: Naples vice Mayor Rocco Papa declares the goal to open Mostra - Mergellina section of Linea6 by April 2006 (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

December 3, 2005: CIPE has funded 323 million euros for Naples metro works: 42.2 millions for Montesanto station (Linea 5 and Linea 7), 61.1 millions for Cilea - Quattro Giornate interchange node (Linea 1, Linea 5 and Linea 7) to complete by 2010, 119.7 millions for the section Capodichino - Centro Direzionale (Linea 1) and 100 millions for the section San Pasquale - Municipio (Linea 6) (see news and table - in Italian - from Il Mattino).
