Pozzuoli, Bagnoli - Agnano Terme, Agnano, Cavalleggeri Aosta, Campi Flegrei (6,7, 8), Leopardi (8), Mergellina (6), Santa Maria della Neve, Amedeo, Montesanto (5, 7), Cavour/Museo (1, 9, 10), Porta Capuana, Garibaldi (1, 3, 4), Gianturco, Ferraris, Vigliena, San Giovanni.


Currently in use by Ferrovie di Stato (FS).
Pozzuoli-Gianturco:
in use by Ferrovie di Stato (FS); opened in 1925; length 14.5 kms; ground level from Pozzuoli to Leopardi; underground from Leopardi to Garibaldi (Mergellina station elevated); elevated from Garibaldi to Gianturco;
Gianturco-San Giovanni:
An extension towards east has been planned (tracks already existing and used by FS), with three new stations: Ferraris, Vigliena and San Giovanni. Announced opening date is by end 2006 (see news in Italian - Il Mattino).
Currently there are no news about actual realization of this extension.
Further planned stations for this line are: Agnano, Santa Maria della Neve and Porta Capuana. Also in this case no news are currently available about their actual realization.

Recent news

April 23, 2002: Rocco Papa (ViceMayor of Naples) presents the Project "Area Est" (Naples Eastern Area) which includes the extension of Linea2 to San Giovanni (this station will be deeply improved) and announces a train frequency of six minutes (see press release - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

June 1, 2002: the pedestrian connection tunnel between stations Museo (Linea1) and Cavour (Linea2) opens: two tapis roulants and 90 seconds of walk (see press release 1 and press release 2 - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

January 21, 2004: Comune di Napoli approves construction of a pedestrian underpass in Montesanto area between Linea 2 station and that of Linea 5 and Linea 7 (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

April 13, 2005: a 108-metres-long pedestrian tunnel will connect station Amedeo of Linea 2 to lower station of Funicolare di Chiaia. Scheduled time one year, cost 1.200.000 euros (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

October 29, 2005: Trenitalia exits Metronapoli. As a consequence, the former will manage Linea 2, while the latter will manage Linea 1 and the four cable-car lines (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

June 20, 2006: new trains have been purchased for Linea 2: they will allow higher frequency and better quality of service (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).

July 29, 2006: Region Campania has appropriated 5 million euros for a new exit of Gianturco station of Linea 2, useful for Naples "Centro Direzionale" (Office District) (see news - in Italian - from Il Mattino).
