Con il Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) è possibile reperire direttamente dal proprio telefono cellulare qualsiasi informazione da internet.
Questo protocollo permette a tutti i telefoni predisposti non solo di poter navigare stando comodamente seduti sul sedile del treno o sdraiati sotto l'ombrellone, ma di ottenere ogni sorta di servizio e d'informazione possibile direttamente sul display del proprio telefono. Cosí come su Internet, chiunque può fornire un servizio (ristoranti, orari dei treni, condizioni del traffico, ecc..), e tutti possono riceverlo sul proprio telefonino
