C-Media 8738/8338 Sound Board Linux Driver
June 4, 2000
Here you can find my updated cmpci.c and Config.in, they work fine on 2.4.0-test1-ac7, 2.4.0-test1, 2.3.99pre6 (module or resident mode) and include experimental support for S/PDIF in/out.

ChenLi Tien has updated his driver to support both kernel 2.2.x and 2.4.x. Download it.

Merged the patch by Jan Niehusmann to enable SPDIF in/out. This feature is still under development. Test it on 2.4 kernel and report to linux-kernel or linux-sound mailing list. Here the comment of Jan:
The patch below enables S/PDIF input and output on cmi8338 soundcards. It's against the current 3.21 cmpci driver from www.cmedia.com.tw. [...] Unfortunately it doesn't give perfect results - a file piped through an spdif channel shows lost bytes, duplicated bytes and random corruption. This corruption can hardly be heard, but I think spidif should allow perfect transfers. Any ideas?May 28, 2000
Download CMI-8738/8338 Linux Driver for kernel 2.4 (also available as patches against 2.4.0-test1 and C-Media 3.21 Update).
This driver is a patched version of the one released by C-Media on May 23, 2000. It works fine with kernel 2.3.99-pre6 and solved the problems I have experienced with the previous version. Send your feedback to linux-kernel mailing list (to subscribe send a mail to majordomo@vger.rutgers.edu and write in the body: subscribe linux-kernel).
