MasterSpring 5.1

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS

MasterSpring works using four foundamental modules:, Cylindrical Helical Compression Springs, Extension Springs, Torsion Springs and Conical Compression Springs.

Every module works at four different working level: Design, Simulation, Parallel and Check.

There is a fifth module, the Material Editor, that is a service module for the four main modules.

It is possible to buy only some levels, for each main module.

If your job is to design, i.e. to calculate a new spring for a new application, the right modules are:

a) Design: at this level MasterSpring designs a new spring. The working conditions, the geometrical limits and the material to use must be kwown; the software calculates all possible solutions and gives a list of the admittable solutions, i.e. of the solutions that agree with all your input. Only springs that satisfy all conditions are at disposal; the designer is sure that all of them are checked, that all of them have the required characteristics, that all of them use the wires that are in your customized files. The designer must only chose the solution he prefers, and no more; MasterSpring will prepare in few seconds a complete final calculation report, with all dimensions, characteristics and tolerances; or, if you prefer, a complete order form, or the Goodman diagram, for example.

b) Simulation: At this level MasterSpring, using an internal electronic sheet, simulates what happens changing some geometric dimensions, at certain loads. A complete "what-if" analysis that can be very powerful and useful, in addition to the logic of "Design".

c) Design + Simulation: a and b possibilities are combined together for the best results.

d) Design + Simulation + Parallel (Only for the Compression module): It is possible to calculate up to four springs working together in parallel; every spring works inside the others, without interferences. Very useful to get high loads or high rate, with big limits from the geometrical point of view.

If you must only check springs, i.e. if you must only calculate the characteristics of known springs, you can use the level:

e) Only check: When your inputs are the dimensions, the material and the working conditions (loads, or working lengths, or deflections), the software checks the resistance limits and calculates all other characteristics; then obviously can prepare the final calculation report, or diagrams...

Material and wires Editor. Using this module it is possible to customize the files containing the physical characteristics of every material (steel, stainles steel, brass...) and the files containing the allowable diameters for evey type of wire you'll use in your calculations; this means that MasterSpring will give you results always in accordance to your materials, to your wires in stock, to your experience. In any case MasterSpring offers to you its own rich database of material characteristics.

After installation, MasterSpring works in Demo version, i.e. it functions completely, but calculations are limited to wires with diameter smaller than 2 mm and greater than 1 mm, and some printings are not allowed. To use MasterSpring without limits, it's necessary to buy the using license and to registrate the software.
