Why Micaraku? Micaraku was born in our minds two years ago while in a hot summer evening we were attending a raku pottery demonstration in Tuscany. It was the joy of finding something different, interesting and besides the everyday life that immediately involved us in a unique interest: CLAY and COLOUR. Our house soon turned out to become an evening-laboratory. Clay, tools, glaze and a lot of dust began to go round our flat. Through readings, searches, exhibitions and contacts with ceramists we enriched our interest and with will and enthusiasm we started our way to the self-sufficiency. Then we built a gas kiln, we found a right place in the country-side near Milan and we began to do RAKU in order to create from raw materials a satisfactory and pleasant product. The discovery of colour, sometimes accidental, was for both of us electrifying. Glowings, copper-covered and pearly reflections and decorative effects soon raised our enthusiasm; this desire of creating infected us. Today the small successes that we've already obtained satisfy us and give us the joy of going on end even of showing our pots and dishes through our web-site. This special technique of shaping clay, as you can read in the books of well-known ceramists, means " enjoy the day" and we're really persuaded of it. For us the possibility of sharing with simplicity and roughness this great passion allows us to answer our hidden creative necessities.
