This page contains some answers to the most common questions, problems, and useful
hints about Mikey Karaoke. the list is under construction, so please fill the submission form or write
your questions or suggestions.
The program, formerly known as "WinKaraoke", is based on a very simple
concept: each "text page" is associated to a time stamp value (the number of
tenths of seconds past since the song start), so during the playback the program simply
waits for the right time and then show the new words on the screen. Another event class is
the "colour" event, to let the program know when it's time to change the colour
of some characters, and when (ith the same time stamp format).
Mikey is a bit different from almost all other karaoke programs, mainly because it
doesn't require a MIDI file manipulation: all the necessary informations are stored into a
single, external, text file (with "MIK" extension). Thus, the karaoke is better
handled by any program, especially because the MIK file format is fully documented: if you
want, you can write a program compatible with Mikey!
Obviously you can first of all do it by using a MIK karaoke editor. You can find it in
the download page, but new third party editors can be relased
soon.
But remember the KAR to MIK converter function embedded in Mikey Player 3.0 and newer.
