Sorbello Castle
Sorbello castle is a 10th century castle, still owned by the original family. The castle is a large fortress whose massive shape, completely hidden by the woods, is a surprise to the first-time visitor. The only part that can be seen from quite far and above is its main tower. The originality of the building of Sorbello castle is due to the fact that it has always been inhabited from its early origins. Consequently, it has changed with centuries; shaped by necessity first, and fashion later. To the original 10th century tower and courtyard surrounded by a first set of rooms and stables, constituting the very basics of a military fort, later were added "civilian" features: the hall of justice, the ball room the family chapel, and the whole second floor.

Sorbello Castle has a very special atmosphere. In the past, it was a strategic building on the border between the Papal States and the Grand-Duchy of Tuscany. After the unification of Italy, this part of Umbria was left out of the main north-south connections across Central Italy, that run through Florence. As a result, the area is largely untouched by the main flows of tourism. Sorbello has maintained its isolated position off a small road, in the middle of the woods, and has the atmosphere of a refuge, a hermitage of some sort. Here, one still feels the fascination of the past feeling far from the contemporary world. The property is reached by a beautiful private road that winds up for three km through the woods of the estate. The castle is surrounded by age-old oaks and a vast lawn that reaches the ramparts.

In Sorbello castle there are two apartments: Torre apartment and Capriate apartment.
