Wetlands International Cormorant Research Group
1st pan-European colony census
- breeding season 2006 -

Project announcement

The Wetlands International Cormorant Research Group and members of INTERCAFE (COST) organize a pan-European Great Cormorant (P. carbo) breeding colony count in 2006.

In order to contribute, for each colony a form can be filled out (see attachment).

The forms can be filled out digitally or by hand writing. It should be send to the national coordinator after the breeding season of 2006.

Please, return the form before 1 September 2006.

The data will be used to get an international overview of the present status of the species. They will be useful for comparing with earlier years and will give an overview of the distribution and expansion of the species into central and (north)eastern Europe. As most of the conflict issues are connected to the inland breeding “sinensis” subspecies we intend to concentrate on this subspecies especially.

However, census data of “carbo” as well as Pygmy Cormorant (P. pygmeus) are welcomed of course.
