AGLIE'

This castle has a medieval origin, constructed by the Canvese's Lords, dukes of S. Martino.
Was Filippo S. Martino who forsaw the restorations in 1642 which then transformed the castle into a palace.

During 1700 it passed to the Dutchess of the Chiablese who then forsaw other palace transformations and divided the complex into two courts.  In 1764 the castle passed to the Savoia family who remarkably reconstructed it once again.

In the 1800's, it became a holiday palace more than anything.  Many people stayed there including Carlo Felice, and later on, Queen Maria Cristina of France, who collected there ancient Etruscan finds.

Here there are also a legend that says this castle was the jail where they kept the Iron's Mask, like they say about Exilles.
