All of this is true...or maybe not.
You know what truly infuriates me? That so often stories and films reveal only one side of the characters that appear in them. Of course I know that, as I'm about to dig further into this matter, I am at great risk: "Young boy reports to local authorities: ' I dared criticizing "Titanic" in front of my family'". It's not like the poor thing took pride in saying that. After that regretful event he's missing an eye and he'll probably never walk again. But I feel I have a great responsibility and if I should die an untimely death, I'll know I have suffered for the right cause.
Take E.T. for instance. Not at a single moment in the film it is mentioned that E.T. in fact landed into an Amish village. No wonder he couldn't phone home, they just wouldn't let him.
So in fact the critter was confronted with the choice between a lifetime free of Amishly shunning or a phonecall that would probably cost more than Bill Gates could donate at the time.
Or what about Count Dracula, the Godfather of communists long before we have Marx climbing on the big stage that is world history. After all Vladie believed strongly that even human blood was joint property, red was his favourite colour, etc. And though he is often referred to as a beast, one should bear in mind he appreciated and still appreciates humane sciences greatly. His interest varied, but having outgrown the works he cherished most in the fifteenth century he now feels most related to the seventeenth century work of Hobbes: "For what is the heart, but a spring, and the nerves but so many strings...", to which he would paradoxically add "and the blood, but an extremely precious fluid...".
And what to think (sorry kiddies, my dreams were also shattered) about the Platonic relationship between Mickey and Minnie Mouse? Rumour has it that Minnie and he were betrothed but Minnie called the whole thing off when she found out that Mickey is rather fond of bestiality in general. No wonder he has such an intense relationship with Pluto. Has anyone wondered why Pluto is the only Disney character that doesn't talk? He's been severely traumatized, I tell you, too many cruel things been happening to him. When you pay close attention you can see the sudden changes of temperament: long periods of sleep will alternate with hyperactive not to say neurotic behaviour.
And alas also Medieval tales of fabulous dragons tend to commit the same crime. Victims are overcome with fire and then devoured. But what about important questions as: How is the foolish knight or maiden eaten exactly? Do dragons generally want their meal medium done, or can they only enjoy this mana to the fullest if it's raw? Do they have certain table manners as in : "First rip off the head for the entrée, torso for the main course, legs for dessert, and keep vital parts for magic rituals?" And last but not least do you have to make a difference between dragons who can fly, and those who can't?
I could end this by saying trust no one, especially not authors and film directors, but then this question imposes itself. Trust no one? Why? Because some touchy guy, who has been having all these weird hallucinations since he pushed his own sister in a tar pit cause she didn't believe in his UFO conspiracies, told you to? No way!
