I think it's played with distortion and sounds kinda like a ring modulator...

Also, if you play along with the song, a lot of the low-mixed guitar in the
background can be done by just playing a D (B ---3---) on the B string nad
(that was and) bending it a lot.  Not much of a guitar song, mostly keyboards
and ambient "sounds". If you figure anything else out, write me...
