The Palatinum Hill

According to the legend, Romulus chose right the Palatinum Hill to found the ancient city of Rome. This is confirmed by very ancient ruins found right at the top of this hill. Because of this, emperor Augustswas the first one to initiate the tradition of leaving in this pleasant place, and building there his residence, so to leave in the same place where Romulus, the first king of Rome, used to leave. In the end, the Palatinum was the place where most of the luxurious homes of very rich and noble people concentrated, so to take the name of palatii that is the most common root for the European languages, to say "building" (e.g. palace in French, palacio in Spanish and palazzo in Italian).
