Forum Boario and Tiber Island
In ancient times, goods were transported more by sea than on land. The reason for this is that transporting goods by ships was cheaper and safer than using trucks pulled by animals. Wind was available for free, and roads weren't so good.. So, also the ancient Romans used to move goods arriving on the Tirrenum Sea (15 miles away) by navigating over Tiber river. The Tiber Island was just in front of the main harbour of Rome.
