Saturn pictures - Immagini di saturno

The planet Saturn

Planet Saturn on January 31, 2004 on a Maksutov-Cassegrain 127/1500 at 300x (LV 5 mm eyepiece). Afocal with Pentax EI-200 at 800x600 pixels. Image taken at 1/4 sec. with tracking.
First tries on Saturn... passing on a small sky window between two Rome buildings. Visually I could spot 4 satellites, reaching about 10.5 magnitude.

The planet Saturn

Same day and telescope, at 150x (PL 10 mm eyepiece). Afocal with same camera at 800x600 pixels. Image taken at 1/4 sec. with tracking.
Visually I could easily spot the Cassini division and a yellowish band on the southern emisphere.

The planet Saturn

Same day and telescope... and about the same features of the previous image.

The planet Saturn

Planet Saturn on February 13, 2004 on a Maksutov-Cassegrain 127/1500 at 150x (PL 5 mm eyepiece). Afocal with Pentax EI-200 at 800x600 pixels.
This was taken in b&w to avoid the color processing of the camera.

The planet Saturn

Same day, telescope and eyepiece. And always in black and white.

The planet Saturn

Same day and telescope, but now with the LV 5 mm (300x), and in color.
You can see how the front part of the rings shields the northern part of the planet and how the planet projects a shadow on the rear part of the rings.

The planet Saturn

Same as the previous picture.
This is the last picture for now, but I will try to take better pictures...

The planet Saturn

Planet Saturn on April 28, 2007 at 22:28:35 UTC, on a Maksutov-Cassegrain 127/1500, with a Pentax K100D at the focus (1/8 sec. at ISO 1600).
The original picture is 3008x2000 pixels, cropped.
First try with the new digital reflex on my telescope. The sensor on this relfex is definitely too big to be useful on the planets. Probably I could have better results with the webcam...

The planet Saturn

Same setup of the previous photo, at 22:29:03 UTC (1/4 sec. at ISO 1600).

The planet Saturn

Same setup of the previous photo, at 22:32:49 UTC (1/8 sec. at ISO 1600).

The planet Saturn

Same setup of the previous photo, at 22:33:07 UTC (1/8 sec. at ISO 1600).
