Acquired in Venice by the State in 1896 from the Coen-Rocca Luzzato family on the suggestion of Cantalamessa. Before this it belonged to the farmer Filippo Bertoldi di Merlara (Montagnana). The painting was probably originally made for a private domestic collection.

Acquisition from the Scuola di San Giovanni Evangelista when it was suppressed in 1820. It was passed to the Galleries with the Cycle of the Santa Croce.

Executed for the hall of the Albergo formerly the Scuola di S.Maria della Carità.


24. La tempesta (Giorgio da Castelfranco detto Giorgione)
At the end of the eighteenth century Gabriele Vendramin bequeathed this painting to the Manfrin family. In 1877 it was acquired by Prince Giovanelli. In 1932 the State acquired it from Giovanelli.

Acquired from Salvadori of Venice in 1913. It was shown for some years at the Ca' D'Oro but in 1940 in returned to the Galleries.

Acquisition from the Church of San Francesco di Treviso when this church was suppressed. It was chosen for the Galleries in 1812.


31. Miracolo della croce caduta nel canale di S. Lorenzo (Gentile Bellini)
Acquired from the Scuola of San Giovanni Evangelista. In 1806 the school was suppressed and in 1820 the paintings were transferrred to the Accademia.


32. Paesaggio con cavalli che si abbeverano (Marco Ricci)
This belonged to the Galleria Corniani Algarotti of Treviso and was passed to the heir Contessa Perazzolo. It was acquired by Count Zanetti in Venice in 1878.


33. Polittico - Particolare del comparto centrale dell'Annunciazione (Lorenzo Veneziano)
This comes from the high altar of the Church of Saint Antonio Abate in Castello in Venice. The sum of 300 ducats of gold was paid for it by Domenico Lion. In 1733 it was taken from the sacrestia of the church. When the church was demolished to enable the Napoleonic
Gardens of Saint Elena to be developed it was dismounted and transferred to the Arsenale from where it was taken in 1812 in order to be exhibited in the Galleries.


34. Processione in Piazza S. Marco (Gentile Bellini)
Acquired from the Scuola of San Giovanni Evangelista. In 1806 the school was suppressed and in 1820 the paintings were transferrred to the Accademia.

Transferred from the old Accademia. It was a trial piece for his election as Academician.

From the Scuola of Sant'Orsola. Acquired when the school was suppressed in 1812.

Bequeathed by Vincenzo Astori in 1876.

Acquired in 1956 from the Manfrin collection for the gallery of Vienna and then passed to the Venetian gallery.

From Pizzamano's family both before Windmann, acquired ensemble "San Gerolamo in meditazione" from Alessandro Bedendo - Mestre (1900).

Formerly belonged to Widmann. Acquired in 1900 From Alessandro Bedendo of Mestre.


41. San Giorgio (Andrea Mantegna)
Acquisition from the Manfrin collection and later transferred from the old Accademia to the present galleries.


42. San Giovanni Battista (Tiziano Vecellio)
Acquisition from the Church of S. Maria Maggiore. It became property of the State with the Napoleonic decrees in 1807 and was removed from the church and sent to the Accademia.


43. San Marco libera uno schiavo (Jacopo Robusti detto il Tintoretto)
Originally in the Scuola Grande di S. Marco. It was taken to Paris in 1797 and then acquired by the Galleries of the Accademia.


44. San Marco salva un saraceno durante un naufragio (Jacopo Robusti detto il Tintoretto)
Acquired from the hall of the Marciana library.


45. Sogno di Orsola (Vittore Carpaccio)
From the Scuola of Sant'Orsola. Acquired when the school was suppressed in 1812.


46. Sposalizio di S. Caterina (Paolo Caliari detto il Veronese)
Formerly belonged to Widmann. It was acquired in 1900 from Alessandro Bedendo of Mestre.


47. Trafugamento del corpo di San Marco (Jacopo Robusti detto il Tintoretto)
Originally in the Scuola Grande di S. Marco.
