AFRICAN REGIONAL SEMINAR ON
SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION
Presentation I.Objective:
ØTo demonstrate the role international cooperation can play in supporting the implementation of the Action Program of the World Summit on Social Development (Copenhagen).
ØTo contribute to the Special Event on International Cooperation in Geneva (June 2000), by providing proposals and recommendations of the countries represented in this event.
The significance of the seminar is not to evaluate the advances of countries in applying the Copenhagen action program, but rather to focus on the role of international cooperation and those mechanisms that can best achieve the difficult task of applying the principles agreed to in Copenhagen, this being a common interest for all signatory countries. II.Work methodology
ØIntroductory presentations.
ØPanel on the role of international cooperation in the Copenhagen Summit.
ØPresentations on particular examples of positive achievements by intl. cooperation (methods, innovative mechanisms, concrete experiences) with respect to the application of the agreements of the Social Summit.
ØWorking groups to discuss in depth the themes presented in plenary and to work out recommendations to be presented in plenary. |
