of Carnival 2000

The celebration of Carnival in Bisacquino is an old tradition. It started fading during the sixties, but later it renewed and enriched with allegorical floats. Carnival time is a circumstance which allows young and old people, children and adults to join in groups and collaborate in a merry and frenzy atmosphere for the preparation of allegorical floats and costumes which will be worn for town parades and for dances in the so called "circoli". They are a sort of clubs where members spend their spare time and chat in a friendly atmosphere. At Carnival time they are decorated like night clubs or discos and every Saturday and Sunday before Ash Wednesday, they are open to everyone who wants to be involved in carnival dances and euphoria. Carnival reaches its climax in the last three days: dancing, starting late in the evening, lasts until morning and comes to an end on Tuesday night. At dead night some members of a club start dancing "contradanza" and invite people from other clubs to join  them in  carrying on and finishing it in the main square of the town in a merry atmosphere.
