Atlantico
The return of migrant
music between Sardinia and South America.
 In
this show the Association Jana Project
presents its latest production - Atlantico, an acoustic work that is inspired by
and renders homage to South American writers. To be carried out in the Spring
period, the concert will be a first execution for Sardinia, therefore wide
spaces will be dedicated to its promotion. As well as Enzo
Favata the concert will be completed by other musicians who have
collaborated for years with the Jana Project: the guitarist Marcello
Peghin, the double bass palyer Salvatore
Maltana, Roberto Pellegrini, one of
the most refined and required percussionists on the Sardinian scene. Finally
from Marche is Daniele di Bonaventura
on the Argentine Bandoleon, without doubt the best Italian virtuoso of this
instrument.
The Show
The project debutted in 1999 with an organic group put together during a long
series of live shows around Europe and Italy between 1997 and 1999 which
received optimum praise from the public and which interested the critics with
its particular sound equilibrium and energy. Atlantico has been inspired by
South american writers,such as Sepulveda, Soriano, Borges, and Coloane, in a
sound space where candombe, milonga, tango and Andean music are blended with
Mediterranean rhythms and melodies.
The show currently focuses on the reperotry of the disc,
the majority of which was composed by Favata; although is ranges in moments to
include compositions by Daniele di Bonaventura and Marcello Peghin,
improvisations, solos and pieces written by other musicians have also been
inserted in moments.
Despite its having been released just recently onto the discographic market,
praise by the critics has been plentiful and the figures regarding sales are
reassuring, confirming the interest in our musicians. The

"Tradizione in transizione" nella musica sarda
The
concert presents 14 musicians on the stage and is an orchestral version of the
CD ... published for the Manifesto at the start of 1998.
In this new production . Was host to many musicians amongst which were some
of the best interpreters of the traditional repertory of the island, together
with musicians from different formations from jazz to classical music. It is
probably the first time that so many musicians have united in a discographic
project dedicated to our island.
The music does not follow a strictly geographical route - it is a continuous flashback to the frequent trips to the interior of the island, its landscapes, the meetings with the traditions and its interpreters and all that which could have influenced this work ... the colour of the sandstone, the scent of rosemary, the winding roads, the wrinkles on a face.
Le motivazioni che inducono a produrre un nuovo spettacolo con questa formazione suono legate all’importanza che sta assumendo l’Orchestra Voyage en Sardaigne che propone una nuova idea di "tradizione in transizione" cercando una via trasversale fra la musica antica e i linguaggi moderni, come l’improvvisazione jazz, la musica classica ed altre influenze etniche oltre il mare.
Ancient and modern instruments -launeddas, saxophones, percussion instruments - live side by side in this show creating an original sound which is full of suggestion.
Questa Orchestra si propone come un laboratorio permanente della musica della Sardegna e nel corso del tempo sarà aperta alle collaborazioni più disparate, nella via della "tradizione in transizione".

Boghes and Voices
As well as being the
last year of this millennium, the year 2000 is also that of the great Jubilee;
as an act of recognition to this important moment in the history of the world,
we intend to propose a musical event entirely dedicated to devotion; a show in
the form of a multimedial concert, to repeat that which was produced for the
very first time in Cagliari for the end of 1999. This show, realised within the
basilica of Bonaria, thanks to the collaboration of the Commune and Diocese of
Cagliari, ws seen by about 1,000 people.
 Boghes
and voices, created in order to be played in churches, intends to celebrate the Jubilee
of the year 2000 in a way which is unusual yet at the same time
absolutely respectful and devoted to the sacredness and spirit of religion. The
show is a voyage composed of sounds, images, visual narration, inspired by the
sounds of the Sacred Music of Sardinia, and its
blending with other cultures and influences from the Mediterranean.
One particularity of the project is the involvement of musicians who confront
themselves with this important material, directed by the Sardinian musician Enzo
Favata. The music will be specially written for the show by Enzo Favata who
will play saxophones and other instruments flanked by Simone
Zanchini, virtuoso of the classical accordion and Salvatore
Maltana on the double bass.
One of the most suggestive groups of the Sardinian choral tradition, the Coro
a Cuncordu of Castelsardo will be involved together the trio. This choir
is composed of the four best a cuncordu singers in the tradition of sacred music
in Sardinia.
Suoni e canti appartengono alla antica tradizione della Sardegna in una fusione con musiche originali ispirate al tema religioso appositamente scritte per quest’organico. La fusione tra la religiosità della musica arcaica e quella moderna è l'elemento caratterizzante di questo incontro.
La scenografia, caratterizzata da una fusione tra computer grafica annessa alla gestione degli effetti luce all’interno della chiesa crea un ambiente che amplifica la magia dei suoni legati al racconto musicale. La chiesa è utilizzata nella sua struttura originale, con inserimenti di luci che serviranno anche a valorizzare angoli suggestivi della sua architettura; le navate stesse sono spazi vivi all’interno dei quali le luci interagiscono con le sculture ed i quadri delle cappelle. L’organico orchestrale è distribuito nello spazio in maniera non usuale e grande cura è dedicata alla diffusione sonora, di altissima qualità, particolarmente adatta alla atmosfera acustica del progetto.
Il pubblico sarà avvolto in un’atmosfera mistica, il cui intento è collegare il senso della antica devozione religiosa al senso della religione nel secondo millennio.

The music of Favata, Peghin and Maltana ranges from jazz to
Sardinian and Mediterranean dances, to Latin and classical music,
capturing and fascinating from the very first impression even the ear which is
least educated in terms of non-commercial music. The indefinite sound territory
has been the strength and success of the group that can boast of an
international curriculum.
The spaces suited to the exhibitions of the group are small theatres,
auditoriums and churches.
