The
(the Industrial
Zone of Regional Concern) is situated in Siniscola, which
is the main town of Baronia, 55 kilometres south of
Olbia. Olbia is the centre of Gallura, with its port and
airport very important for the clearing of goods and
passengers both internally and along the coast of the
island. Siniscola is also 45 kilometres from Nuoro, which
is the chief town of the Province as well as the
administrative and bureaucratic centre. Siniscola s
population is approximately 10.900 inhabitants and covers
around 20.000 hectares stretching from the foot of Mount
Albo to the sea of Berchida. Mount Albo, overlooking the
south west of Siniscola with an altitude of
1.100 metres is a real naturalistic oasis; a habitat of a
few species of rare animals (golden eagles and muflons);
a lot of caves and natural springs and nuragic sites of
great archaeological interest. On the east coast, the
Tirrenian sea washes the shores of about 30 kilometres of
public coastline. So therefore it is easy to understand
why this area is particularly attractive, with its
combinations of sea and mountains, to investments of
different kinds, from tourism to "light"
industry and manufactures, not forgetting agriculture,
which is the main economic sector.
Considering this in European terms,
with its federalist politics and with the globalisation
of the economy on our doorstep, the , assumes a great
interest in future investments on the verge of the new
millennium. All this is also thanks to Siniscola s
excellent position and with the at the crossroads
of the mountains of Nuoro and the sea of Gallura with its
touristic and worldwide potentialities. The unification
of the two production systems (tourism and industry)
marks the job that will undertake, as
a sort of economic laboratory, first in the Regional
territory and consequently in all the Mediterranean area
meeting the needs of the trade development and the
increase in demand of goods and services.
The
take off of the port of La Caletta, situated in the area, just 5
minutes from the beautiful beaches of Santa Lucia, Capo
Comino and Berchida and the interest demostrated by the
Regional Council, the private investors and more
navigation company' s, (that intends on realising a port
for the clearing of passengers coming from Italy), will
increase the opportunities in this area which hopes on
becoming a pole of economic development for the whole of
Sardinia.
The
, that is in
Siniscola s territory, is made up of different Town
Councils:
Lodè, a little
Town of 2.360 inhabitants, situated at the foot
of Mount Albo, was an old border between
"Giudicato di Gallura" and the
"Giudicato dArborea". |
|
Posada, with its
2.250 inhabitants, is a reason of further
interest for the future investors, thanks to
fervid cultural activities, uncontaminated
strands, an old historical centre, one of
Sardinia s most important; and not to
forgetting the pond, where, occasionally, the
flamingos come to stay.
|
|
Torpè, 2.760
inhabitants, few kilometres from Posada, has
tried to do its best with the ecological tourism,
the conservation of nature; the dam on the River
Posada, situated in its territory which gives
water to a vast zone within the .

San
Teodoro, 3.170 inhabitants, is for
sure the Z.I.R. Town Council that has best taken
advantage of its splendid beaches and its
beautiful territory thus having a high income of
tourists; San Teodoro is one of the most
beautiful places in Sardinia, besides the sea,
there is, a damp zone covering 500 hectares, one
of the most interesting in Europe, where the
flamingos stay and it is about to become part of
Tavolara - Capo Coda Cavallo Marine Park. |
